Specifics:
Two volumes, many fabulous illustrations, indexes and appendices. The back binding of the two books contain slots containing three original maps including "A Map of the Route of the Emin Pasha Relief Expedition Through Africa", "A Map of Emin Pasha's Province" and "A Map of The Great Forest Region showing the routes of the Emin Pasha Relief Expedition from the River Congo to the Victoria Nyanze by Henry M. Stanley". These are all in colour and of different sizes. This is a genuine treasure for some person or institution with an interest in the early explorations of Stanley and Livingstone. The books are both slightly separated at the front cover, but the spines are intact. The pages are yellowed and appear to have old red paint on the bottom from some former bookshelves. The covers are both green with a depressed image of the continent of Africa and the title and signature of Henry M. Stanley in gold. It was published in 1890 in Canada by Charles Scribner's Sons.
